Is There Such a Thing as Too Much Golf

I hang out at the local golf course a lot. Maybe too much. On my days off, that’s where I am. After work, it’s a beeline to the course so I can hit some balls or practice putting. That is unless I cut out of work early enough to get in a full round. I seriously can’t get enough; it’s like some kind of addiction.

Then there is my job. Ugh, I hate it. I’m stuck inside a warehouse all day moving this over here and moving that over there. Not just boring and mundane, but I’m stuck inside when it’s so nice outside. And it’s not like I feel like I play an important role there. If I left today, they would have me replaced by tomorrow. Regarding advancement, well it’s not going to happen because everything above me requires a college education which I don’t have. And I’m not about to go to college so I can spend the rest of my life in a warehouse!

It’s time for a serious change. I am going to go to college. Not the kind of college that lands me in a warehouse though. I’m going to go to golf school so I can start a golf career. I’m going to teach golf! Instead of driving a forklift, I’m going to make a living driving Titleists!

The King of the Golf Course Jobs

It’s been mentioned that there are quite a few golf course jobs where you can make a fantastic living. Some of them are easy and some of them are difficult. What is the king of all of these jobs? It’s the head professional. As the head teaching pro at a golf club, you are the man of the hour. You command a big salary, a lot of attention, and you run the show.

How do you get to be king? As with anything else, it takes a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck. More times than not, good professional jobs don’t just fall right into people’s laps. The people in those positions have usually attended golf schools and they almost always have extensive ability to teach golf. They are, for all intent and purposes, the cream of the crop when it comes to golf.

If you want to get there, then you need to spend your life around the game. No one becomes the head pro by just putting a little bit of time in. You have to be willing to dedicate your entire career to learning the game and playing the game. You are the man at a club, so it’s on you to be as good at golf as you possibly can be.

Alternatives to An Arizona Golf School

You’re thinking about going to golf school. You live in Arizona and know that there is more than one Arizona Golf School to choose from since it’s a warm state where people love to golf. However, you’re ready to move away from home and see a little bit more of the world around you.

Here are some alternative locations where you might want to go to school:

  • Texas. A golf school in Texas is going to provide the most similar environment to what you’re familiar with but the cultural experience will be completely different.
  • Florida. A Florida Golf School will have the sunshine that you’re used to but it’ll be a humid climate which is totally new for you.
  • San Diego Golf Academy. If you can’t handle humidity and want to stay warm, the beaches of San Diego might be a good place to golf.
  • Foreign countries. If you really want a brand new experience, see if you can get some private golf instruction in a foreign land.

Going to school is not just about learning the topic that you’re studying. It’s also about learning more about the world around you. Starting college in a new place can be a great step towards really broadening your horizons.
