When a lot of people think about business careers and the degrees they require, they think in terms of business degrees such as MBAs and management degrees. However, these are hardly the only — or even sometimes the best — way to go.
For instance, one degree that is very beneficial in the business world is a marketing degree. Business people and upper management always benefit greatly by having been educated in the principles of marketing. Luckily, these days you can get your marketing degree online, allowing you to keep working the same job with the same schedule while you earn your degree.
Another area of business that is immensely popular, but is growing so quickly that qualified workers are always in demand, is the information technology, or IT, field. IT people specialize in computers and computer technology, and are invaluable in today’s fast-paced, computer driven world. As with marketing degrees, it’s easy to get your IT degree online, making it easier than ever to advance your education and your career into something with great job security and pay!
When looking at business degrees and careers, don’t be limited by the mainstream, or more common, business degrees. Think outside the box and you’ll be sure to find yourself a great career!
Are you interested in attending a culinary arts school in the Seattle area, but aren’t sure what to look for in a good school? Here are some tips for choosing a good Seattle cooking school.
Look for a good reputation. The reputation of the school that gives you your degree can help you in your quest to find a good job and launch your career after graduation. Look for schools that are well known for quality education that turns out knowledgeable, experienced graduates.
Look for program information. Most schools should offer information about their programs, including curriculum and instructor information. Make sure that you like the curriculum, and that the instructors who will be teaching the courses have experience in the industry.
Look for assistance in getting financial aid. Wading through the mess of financial aid on your own can be quite a nightmare. Make sure any school you are considering has its own financial aid department to help guide you through the process.
Look for student services. Any good school should offer plenty of student services, such as a well-stocked library, computer labs and other equipment for student use, availability of extra help, and assistance finding work after graduation.
A good education is the foundation of most successful careers, so when choosing a Seattle cooking school make sure you are really getting your money’s worth!
You might say I have the lawyer gene in me. My uncle is a lawyer; so was his father (my grandfather), and his father (my great-grandfather). Even my cousin, who did not get a law degree, works as a paralegal in his father’s (my uncle’s) office.
So as you see, I come from a family of lawyers. Therefore it should come as no surprise that when I was younger, I was interested in criminal justice. My parents always said that I argued like a lawyer, even from a young age; and in high school, I took classes in criminal justice. After high school, my interest intensified when a boyfriend of mine got in trouble with the law, and I saw how pathetic a chance he had with a public defender.
There are a lot of good schools offering degrees in criminal justice. For instance, Bethpage Briarcliffe College has an associate’s degree in criminal justice that will help get you started. I never did pursue this career choice, though — my first love was writing, and in the end that’s what I went to school for…and what I’m doing now!
My sister-in-law has decided that she doesn’t want to be a nurse anymore.
Granted, she didn’t have an easy time of it. She had a lot of experience working in assisted living centers, and was having a hard time getting out of it. She was pretty sick of changing old people’s diapers and lifting them in and out of bed.
I don’t blame her, in some respects. It sounds like a pretty miserable job. However, I personally thought it would be good to try to get into a different niche in the industry. She likes children, so maybe working in a pediatrician’s office would have appealed to her. Working in a hospital also would have been an improvement.
If she had decided to pursue another facet of her career, there are ways she could have gotten around her concentration of experience in elder care. For example, there are many schools offering health care training programs that could have helped her break into another niche in the industry. Sanford Brown Fenton offers several good programs that she might have been interested in.
School could help her break into another career, too, though. She has considered cosmetology as an option. Personally, though, I think she’d prefer a little more of a traditional office job, especially considering the really hard work she has done for the last 10 years. There are many business administration programs and cosmetology programs around, so whatever she decides, she’ll have options!
When I was in high school, I didn’t exactly hate school, but I didn’t love it, either. Then I worked full-time for four years before deciding to go to college. Maybe it’s because I was more mature, but I found that I LOVED college.
In fact, I’ve only been out a short time and I’m already thinking of going back! I want a second degree, either another bachelor’s or a master’s. This time, though, I think I’m going to go for an online degree.
The online education history has shown a lot of reluctance for society to accept it, but even so online ed has come a long ways since I was in college (the first time, I hope to be saying soon!). Now the program I want is available through a traditional college halfway across the country — in fact, the very same college that my grandmother and great-grandmother went to.
The online education benefits make it well worth considering getting a degree online. The degrees I am considering are not easy to find, so online ed makes it possible for me to still get the program I want, just without having to relocate — and we all know how going to college out of state can make tuition and living expenses MUCH more expensive!! Also, online programs allow me to work on coursework when I have the time for it, rather than roping me to a schedule that I might not be able to keep (that is, if I want to keep my job and continue to pay my rent!).
I love this online education thing, and I can’t wait to get started on my next degree!
