Economy Foods

Lately my husband and I have been trying to save money on our grocery bill. With the unstable economy we’ve been discussing how we can cut expenses. One obvious choice is to cut out eating in restaurants. In the past we would eat out about once a week, usually for a date night. Now our date night is a trip to the local ice cream drive thru for a scoop.
Another discovery we’ve recently made is shopping closer to home at the local vegetable and fruit market. Family owned the market has a great variety of in season fruits, vegetables and specialty items like tofu or fresh herbs. Healthy eating can be cheap and delicious.
A friend of ours is a nutritionist, and often has great meal ideas. She works for a cardiologist and educates heart patients about nutrition. Proper nutrition can assist in recovery from strokes along with a transitional physical therapy program. My friend enjoys working in the healthcare industry and is considering pursuing a masters in health science program. The classes are offered online or at health science universities.
By cutting down on meat and eating more fruits, legumes and vegetables my husband and I have lost a few pounds and saved a few dollars.
